Listening to Mother Earth and Father Sky: Teachings for Urban Aboriginals is a 2012 Ningwakwe Learning Press publication designed specifically for Ontario Native adult literacy learners and practitioners. This accessible 64-page book offers senior elementary and high school students an accurate overview of Traditional Teachings about the Four Directions and the cycle of life for Ojibwe, Hopi, Métis, and other First Nations. Author Michele Graveline look to the sky, trees, and nature as she worked on her Master of Arts in Education degree. She produced this informative and practical guide for Aboriginal people living in urban areas. She covers ways of knowing and worldview, as well as the teachings of the Medicine Wheel - East (air), South (energy), West (water), and North (earth). Within the four chapters she writes a concise overview of each teaching. In addition she provides practical advice for all people on how they can live a life connected to the earth and environment. Colour photographs are included as well as suggestions for further reading.
